Growing up, Alison Belle was the guitarist, singer, and songwriter for The V.U., and she performed in musical theater and trained as a ballet dancer. She attended Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as a dance major with a ballet emphasis. While in rehearsals for Paquita, she suffered an injury that, after two years of her ignoring the pain for her love of dance, forced her to stop.

When she graduated high school she turned to her love for books and music, diving into her studies and songwriting at San Diego State University. She majored in English, and for a time double-majored in music for vocal performance, but chose instead to pursue her two minors, French and interdisciplinary studies through the Weber Honors College. During the 2017-2018 school year she served as historian for the student organization Planned Parenthood Generation Action, and through this had the opportunity to travel to the capital in honor of the 45th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Alison Belle was selected as the Outstanding Graduating Senior of the English Department and she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
